Forgotten Nuggets from the Notes Section

I use the notes app on my phone to jot down inspiration, ideas, affirmations and important information that I'm prone to forget. It comes in handy for more often than I would like to admit, as my hair gets grayer, my vision gets longer and my memory gets shorter.
While searching for one of those forgotten nuggets last night, I came across many, many others that have served me well and are well-worth repeating.
So, today's bit of inspiration is pulled straight from those notes. Here they are, in no particular order:
Relationship with Your Spouse
  • Be humble with your spouse. God resists marriages built on pride, but gives grace to the humble.
  • Take responsibility for turning your desires into expectations.
  • Reward your spouse like you did when you were dating.
  • What do you do with your spouse that is bigger than the two of you?

Relationship with God
  • Have you spent time in solitude with God this week?
  • Have you demonstrated self-control this week?
  • Have you been patient and gentle with your family this week?
  • Have you mediated on scripture rather than just memorize it?
  • One definition of grace: The power to do what you need to do in the moment, for the moment.
  • Humble yourselves: Declare your dependence and announce your need for help.
  • If it is important to you, it is important to God.
  • Your goal is not to get out of the storm, but to get into the will of God.Sin in our lives is not that we do bad things. Sin in our lives is that we do our OWN thing, rather than what God tells us to do.
Biblical Wisdom
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of god, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7
  • All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1 Corinthians 6:12
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
  • Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Culture
  • Culture baits us to the edge of moral disaster, than chastises us when we go over the line.
Priorities
  • You are already seeking something first.
  • Three realities about time:
  • There is cumulative value on investing small amounts of time over a long period.
  • Neglect is cumulative as well. There arises a point of no return where there is no getting back to where you were. Neglect is never a solution.
  • There is no cumulative value for the random things we opt for over the important stuff that consumes our time.
  • Small deposits of time over time make all the difference.
  • Guard against materialism
  • Be generous.
  • Focus on what matters.
  • Do something drastic.
  • Expect the unexpected.
  • Create God space.
  • Keep a constant reminder of what God has done i you.
  • live your life to leave a legacy.
  • Fight with conviction.
  • Finish the race with character.
  • Keep the faith in community.
  • Live boldly!
  • Use your individual gifts, align them with Christ and go on mission.
It All Boils Down to...
  • Love is giving another person what they need most when they deserve it least. That's what Jesus did.
  • Forgiveness is letting go. That's what we have to do.
